Six monthly survey of all Lifting equipment in accordance with  SI 2307 (LOLER)

At the request of the Customer, Engineers will visit site every six months to perform a thorough inspection of all Lifting gear. The completed per day job includes the thorough examination and colour coding of each item and the updating of the equipment register/database as the case may be. The Engineers basically will produce an e-report of examination from their laptop on completion of the visit. (The report of the Initial survey may be done in our office, if a database has to be created manually).

Establishing Lifting equipment register.

As mentioned above, the Lifting equipment register may be the report of thorough examination initiated by the Engineers following their inspection visit establishing a record of equipment for traceability and continuity. If the location has a list of equipment, this can be  compared to the report. Important to the establishment of a register will be some kind of unique numbering system, someone must maintain a number register and issue unique numbers to suppliers of new equipment. This goes a long way to helping our client maintain records of fit and unfit for use equipments.

Colour Coding Management

Engineers on site will apply a colour code as decided by each location to suit the clients or our requirement during the six-monthly survey. Also new equipment purchased/delivered during any given six monthly surveys will be given the colour code applied by the supplier prior to delivery; the surest colour code should therefore be advised to the supplier by the buyer and noted on the purchase order.

Maintenance Programme

This is monitored very closely as only limited maintenance can be done in the field especially to Lifting machines.  Equipment lubrication can be performed and maintenance requirements scheduled during each six monthly inspection.

Spelter Resin Application

Pressure Testing Operation

Pressure testing or hydrostatic testing is the test which is carried out after the installation of any pipeline before it is put into use. The purpose of the pressure testing is to investigate the various limits of the pipeline which will test areas such as the reliability, maximum capacity, leaks, joint fittings and pressure. Without this information the pipe can not be put into service and the owner/operators have no knowledge if the pipe meets the set requirements.

The information found from pressure testing aids to maintain the safety standards and the upkeep of the pipeline. When there is a new manufactured piece of equipment the pipelines are initially qualified by using a pressure test/hydrostatic test and regularly re-qualified at different intervals, which is called, the “modified hydrostatic test” or “proof pressure test”.

When testing pipelines they are conducted under the industry’s or customer’s specifications, filling the vessel with an incompressible liquid, like water or oil. This examines the pipe for any leaks or changes in shape.

Generally dyes are added to the water in order to detect leaks with ease. When pressure testing, the amount of pressure put onto the vessel is always considerably more than the normal operating pressure. This is to allow for any unexpected pressure levels on the vessel for maximum safety.

Information for the tester are stamped onto the vessel, this may include serial number, manufacturer and manufacturer date. There may be other information such as, REE (Rejection Elastic Expansion) and maximum expansion specified by the manufacturer for safety. This information is usually recorded on a computer system which will allow the owner to keep track when the tests have taken place or need to be scheduled in.

  • Appoint/delegate a logistics staff to identify the units/equipment to be tested/certified.
  • Arrange for Crane, Forklift and weights to Reduce /remove downtime and stand-by.

Certification Control

Rigzone Services has developed an in-house database that controls and maintain ongoing certifications and register of all Lifting Equipment, both fixed and portable, operations on all installations and sites.

By request, individual database are created for your establishment and broken down into separate installations, departments, SBU’s and sites to suit your operational need.

A record of all Lifting equipment on each site, department or as requested by our client are established. This is done manually during the initial inspection or if currently operating a system, then it may be easily possible to import the data electronically.

The following minimum information are contained in each record:-

  • Name of Company/Installation or site
  • Equipment identification number
  • Description and safe working load of equipment
  • Location of equipment on installation or site
  • Date first put into use, manufacturer, date of manufacture and test certificate number
  • Date of last inspection, type of inspection, name of Inspector and Inspection Company
  • Results of last inspection, any remedial action(s) of defect or non- conformance required and date for
  • Next inspection due date.

On completion of records of the individual sites or departments, Rigzone Services initiates a current test certificate file. This is achieved by comparing the proof load test certificates conducted so far, with a print out of the equipment register.

Rigzone Services ensures the current certificate file is maintained and all obsolete certificates are moved to a dead certificate file. These certificates are kept for a minimum of five (5) years.

From this database, Rigzone Services will produce a register of thorough examination as required under BS 7072(withdrawn), BS EN 12079, BS EN 10855, DNV 2.7-1,2 & 3, SI 1998 No. 2307 (LOLER) and Federal Republic of Nigerian Factories Act 1990.

We can also develop many other reports ranging from analysis of defects found in equipment over a period of four surveys, to identifying trends and suitability of types of equipment, to print outs of types, size and make of equipment. We also provide a facility whereby all reports and certificates  can be electronically transferred thereby reducing delays from the time the work was carried out to the time the completed report is received.

Cashes Management
